WARTUNE
Bio:
If you like the sound of agressive, hypertensive, technical, fast thrash metal, in vein of Assassin, Dark Angel, Sadus, Forbidden mixed with brutal blast speed of Necrophagist, Cannibal Corpse, Decapitated, lyrics, dealing with serious »life important questions«, inspired by philosophy's historical masterpieces and also by bands such as Pestilence, Death, Cynic, Atheist, mixed with a modern up-to date delivery then Slovenia's Wartune will become one of your favs.
The war-machine was formed in the early days of year 2003 by Miha Kadiš (drums), Primož Mori (guitar), David Piko-Piki (bass-early, than guitar) and finally Žiga Grubelnik-Žganc (bass). Soon after they started tormenting the strings and sticks, Tomaž Hostinger- Hosta entered the gate of war and joined the band on vocals. In early 2004, the band declared war to Slovenia and was bombing the whole country with their music. They had been touring across Slovenia with Magus Noctum, gaining popoularity and respect from Kranj to Ljubljana, Koper, Brežice, Selnica, Celje, Maribor, Slovenj Gradec…Warfield was coverd with blood. At the end of the succesfull tour they started thinking about releasing a demo CD. Illumination came, "End Of Grace" was recorded in their own production very quickly, with no pre-experiences and also with no expectations for near future, there was only a small goal, very important for further evolution -> to present their unusual music to patiently waiting metalheads arround Slovenia.
After one year of gaining motorization and home-studio experiences, in sense of dealing with computer programmes, created for bands to record, the war-crew self-produced their highly awaited second demo, simply called »Wartune«, which proved to be a great achievement for a young slovenian band, but unfortunately, during the recordings they split up with Žiga Grubelnik. Soon after, young 4-string desecrator Tilen Hudrap- Hudy joined the warclan, learned the songs and perfected them and then recorded new bass lines in 2 weeks. After the release of the CD, the second Slovenian war started. The second demo record was spread and sold in a limited edition of 300 copies, achieved good response of the crowd, and also gave the band the opportunity to play, for the first time, outside of our small country. Therefore, in July of 2005, Wartune participated on a very well-known, big, internationaly supported metal festival, Kaltenbach Open Air, with bands such as Destruction, Decapitated, Fleshless, Dissection, Carnal Forge, Goddamned X etc.…They made dozen of new important friendships, and gained a number of connections with concert organizers from across mid-west Europe.
The rest of the year was very intense. The band spent almost mainly all the time together as one, in a small rehersal room of theirs in Slovenj Gradec, where they started preparing new, more complicated material. This creative cangeold was interrupted by a decidion of two founding members not to continue the path we have chosen a few years ago. So, in the summer of 2006 – fathers of Wartune, Miha Kadiš and Primož Mori left the warfield due to different interests, ways and perspectives on how Wartune should sound and perform in the future. But still, we remain good friends, of course. Rest of the guys chose to continue to spread the brutallity and death, but needed to find replacements, a skilled guitar player and a octopus of a drummer. They came across some good old friends, who were immediatly asked to play in the band. New cosmic soldiers, Lenart Mlinar-'Tica (drums) and Gašper Oswald-Ozi (guitar) entered the band in the late summer of 2006. Wartune declared war with Metalcamp, after they fucked us with their attitude (FOAD faggoty stage manager!!!). Wartune fans were so pissed off that they fucked up some MC belongings (incl. dixies and tables) and sprayed them with WARTUNE logos...that was surely a nice gesture, we appreciate your enthuisasm:)...So, in September of 2006 Wartune finally played the first gig with Lench and Ozi in Orto Bar in Ljubljana...A totally new sound direction was presented, the crowd was left eyes opened, 4 new songs were showcased fot the first time (I Am Become Death, Sights of Remorse, Identified Progression and Future Projections), the band received all but outstanding reviews for the gig in on-line magazines.
In year 2007, Wartune started their third all-slovenian tour, with commrades Burning Legion co-headlining the first 4 gigs and played cca. 20 gigs across Slovenia, some of the highlights include METAL MANIA festival in Komen, WOLFSROCK FEST (Live At War, professionaly filmed DVD with 7 cameras, it will be released as a bonus with the studio record when it comes out), Blind Hate support gig in Črna (also pro-filmed) a gig with Interceptor as a part of their reunion etc.
The War-Tour was a great succes, which proved to be the highest peak the band ever reached, warclan played to some crazy banging, great metal crowds...Their support, support of the fans gave the warcrew a lot of motivation to continue to create some alien sounding metal...
Then, as unexpected as you can imagine, came a blackout out of nowhere, which brought a complete unwillingnes to create new music as a group, only as individuals...
2008 was a complete stage hiatus, million riffs came out, yet noone structured them into proper existence, Piko was kicked out of the band, Ozi's hair got cut, the band gained a new rehearsal place, Hudrap started a tribute project etc...
Everyone questioned what will the future hold for Wartune...
As it seems, cosmic forces had plans, so the band, frozen in time, woke up and arose out of the capsule in the arctic crypt and recorded a new promo. You can listen to it on mypsace.com/wartune.
The band is once again back from the dead. Some of the oldies got pre-structured, for the sake of beeing more compatibile with the new creations. All the new songs are getting in shape, new material is faster, more brutal, rougher, more technical and more metal than ever. Defenitly different and progressive, as probably everyone expected. The band progressed, so did our individual capabilities. You can expect crushing riffs so...Let the War begin...
