ThunderbabiesThunderbabies nastanejo februarja 2002, po dolgoletnem prestrukturiranju in sodelovanju v različnih bendih. V letih 2000 in 2001 so igrali v punk'n'roll bendu IQ-22, ki se je kasneje preoblikoval v IQ-Dealers. Luka Štravs je prevzel kitaro in vokal, Alenka je bila na basu, Matic, bivši bobnar Disco Kings, je udrihal po bobnih, Brane je igral kitaro in Luki pomagal na vokalih. Posneli so nekaj demo posnetkov, igrali zelo energičen punk'n'roll v stilu Devil Dogs, Real Kids, Ramones, itd. seveda je bila muzika večinoma avtorska. Potem, ko so morali zapustiti plac v moščanski zapuščeni hiši, kjer so si delili prostor z Dicky B. Hardy, so se slednjim pridružili v njihovem »novem-starem« placu v K4. Vendar zadeve niso šle po poti kot so si jo zastavili IQ-Dealers. Matica so pričele zanimati povsem druge stvari in je zapustil bend, Luka se je posvetil profesionalni karieri. Tako sta ob koncu leta 2001 ostala le še Alenka na basu in Brane na kitari. Začela sta iskati bobnarja in naletela na znanca izpred mnogih let, Petra, ki je v svojih srednješolskih časih igral kitaro v bendu Jakobov sin. No, ko sta ga srečala je že igral bobne in tako se je pričela kariera underground rock'n'roll benda, ki se je sprva imenoval Sonic Spastics, a se je zaradi komada Thunder baby preimenoval v Thunderbabies. Peter je zelo popestril glasbo Thunderbabies, saj ga poleg undergrounda zanima zelo širok spekter glasbenih praks. Tudi Alenka in Brane nista ozko usmerjena, še najbolj pa jima je blizu tradicija bogate rock'n'roll in bluesovske kreativnosti, ki sega daleč nazaj v prejšnje stoletje in se z različnimi underground pristopi udejanja in razvija tudi v današnjem času. Seveda ne moremo mimo vpliva garažnega rocka, punka in detroitskih namazanih akordnih variacij in tudi avstralskega rocka. Vse naštete heterogene glasbene izkušnje so vzpodbudile razvoj in kredibilnost prepoznavnega zvoka.
Thunderbabies si prizadevajo, da bi bila njihova glasba enostavna in učinkovita, brez pretiranih umetniških ambicij in progresivnih, samozadovoljivih tenzij. Izogibajo se jeznim, politično angažiranim in korektnim držam, ter skušajo s svojo glasbo predstaviti realno, a kljub vsemu razigrano podobo življenja, ki ga doživljamo v našem vsakdanju. 4. junija 2003 so v svojem placu v dobrih šestih urah posneli prve resnejše demo posnetke. Pri tem jim je pomagal tonski mojster in producent Grega Deržič. Njihov 3. koncert v karieri je bil že na FV festivalu, v KUD France Prešeren, novembra 2003, kjer so igrali skupaj z Deadly Snakes (USA), Rodriguez (A) in Babies (CRO). Sledili so številni nastopi po slovenskih klubih in poleti 2004 MKC UNDERGROUND festival v Mariboru. Pomemben je bil tudi nastop na mednarodnem festivalu garažnega rocka in punka v Petkovem mlinu na Tratah. Tik ob meji z Avstrijo so se zbrali avstrijski in slovenski rockerji The Staggers, Skeptic Eleptic Dr. Zero, Kiks, Rodriguez in seveda Thunderbabies. Vendar uspešnega nadaljevanja kariere še kar ni bilo konec. Radio Študent je Thunderbabies izbral med 6 finalnih bendov Klubskega maratona 04. Turneja po slovenskih klubih je bila zelo zabavna, sledilo je tudi gostovanje v zagrebški Močvari in v celovškem Galerie Caffe. Še pred iztekom turneje Klubskega maratona so bili Thunderbabies že v studiu. Ob koncu decembra 2004 je bil prvenec izdan in predstavlja uspešno zaokrožitev prve faze delovanja Thunderbabies. V letu 2005 je bend pričel s promocijo svojega prvenca po slovenskih klubih, načrtujejo pa tudi uspešno nadaljevanje mednarodnega sodelovanja in nastopanja na evropskih rockovskih odrih.
Thunderbabies so vedno pripravljeni na dober rock'n'roll žur.

Having a lot of fun at visiting various underground gigs in Ljubljana in our college period, we decided to form a band. There was a lot of trouble to find people with similar musical taste and interest to play in a band. Finally we met Luka Stravs, local punk-rocker and fanzin editor in December 1999 at Demolition Doll Rods gig in KUD France Prešeren, Ljubljana. We formed a punk rock band IQ-22 in January, 2000. First rehearsal room was in my apartment. We were a 3-piece, with Alenka on bass, Luka and me on guitars and vocals and no drumer. Thanks to neighbours anyway, we were loudish for a peaceful countryside neighbourhood in the outskirts of Ljubljana.
We played some covers at the begginning: Ramones, Devil Dogs, Real Kids, etc., and than Luka and me started to write our own material. We recorded first demos in February, 2000. Matic, ex Disco Kings drummer was recruited, after we found a rehearsal room in the old house, at Moste-Ljubljana. We shared the rehearsal room with Dicky B. Hardy. We are sincerely thankful to Dicky B. Hardy for their support. Whitout DBH you would probably not be able to hear for Thunderbabies. They helped us to find our first rehearsal place and they took us in their »new« one at K4. We changed name to IQ-Dealers after awhile and we played real fast and melodic punk'n'roll. Matic left the band in 2001 because of different interests and this was first step to disbandment. Luka left, because of his professional career. Alenka and me where at the beginnings again at the end of 2001 and here comes Peter in a first plan. We knew him since high school, but he was guitarist at that time. When we met him in a cold december night, he said that he had bought a new drum set. We all liked underground rock'n'roll bands and this was the way we understood our musical expression. So, we invited Peter to join us. Our main influence was sound of detroit & aussie rock and connection with renaissance of garage rock. We formed the band in February 2002 and named our three piece Sonic Spastic, with Alenka on bass and back vocals, Peter on drums and me on guitar and lead vocals. After awhile we renamed to Thunderbabies. It's a name of our peace Thunder Baby, which directly reflects our musical direction, thunder and lightning.
From that time on we recorded our first demo CD: K4 – 411, 8 songs live demo in our rehearsal room, with a help from our friend and tone master Grega Deržič. K4-411 was recorded in six hours, on 4. June, 2003 and it's out in D.I.Y. production at Bruc records. We played at FV festival 2003 in Ljubljana with bands Deadly Snakes (USA), Rodriguez (A) and Babies (CRO). We were on tour (Slovenia, Croatia, Austria) in 2004 and we worked on material for our first full lenght CD, which was out at the end of last year. We were selected by Radio Student to final tour named Klubski maraton 04 among 86 bands. After tour we headed to studio and we recorded 13 songs wich can be heard on this added piece of cake. When you hear or see Thunderbabies name, know that there's asskicking rock'n'roll band around, trying to make a good rock time for you.
