FLOWERS FOR WHORES
Bio:
Flowers For Whores got together in Autumn 2005, when, after a long search, 2 former members of Kevorkian (Mira and Tomas) found Pavel and Mysak (Ambrosia), who wanted to try something a little different from their other band. After a couple of practices, Mikita joined them, and shortly after left his original band, Abhorrence. From the start it was clear that the creative process would be a lot more complicated than in their previous bands, as the musical tastes of the individual members spanned an eclectic mix of genres. Influenced by 90's bands from the hardcore scene such as Unbroken, Bloodlet, Dragbody, Botch, Damnation A.D., Deadguy, and Harvest, by Swedish metal in the style of At The Gates, Entombed or Carnage, thrash from Exhorder or Kreator and even modernday metalcore such as Misery Signals, Darkest Hour, Nine, SkyCameFalling, Bird of Ill Omen, Norma Jean and tonnes of other bands, they started to work on their own songs so they could, at the start of 2006, record their first demo of two songs (A Game On Shells, Head In The Clouds). This took place in Sir Pavel Hejc's Professional Sound studios in Prague. Our lives are influenced by various events and sounds and it is immaterial whether you have been in the same situation as we have sung about or read about it in the same book or seen the same film as us. What is important is the feeling we get from the concert, where we leave a piece of ourselves with you. Metalcore is fighting itself right now, and as it has always been in the hardcore scene, it's suffering from schizophrenia, whether to go on or stay in a closed community. There's probably no definite answer, because we all see things differently. Even the name is loved by some and hated by others. Of course, we're no Trustkill band, as some people try to categorize us. Flowers For Whores is borrowed or stolen if you like from the title of a song by a band which, though underestimated, left a firm print in the history of metal hardcore.
