DON'T MESS WITH TEXAS
Bio:
DON'T MESS WITH TEXAS was formed in Zagreb, Croatia in January of 2004. After the break up of Radio Free Isaac (and prior to that the bands Nikad and Lunar), Neven, Ozren and Saša decided to form another band and wasted no time creating their own brand of instrumental and epic rock. They started practicing and working on new songs without a bass player, relying solely on guitar, drum, and piano. After a while Ivana joined the band on bass and added the missing rhythmic component. The band was finally complete and ready to record their first album, in the span of just a few months. Right before the record came out they separated their ways with Ivana, and now bass duties are provided by their friend Slobich.
The result is here and proudly presented by Moonlee Records. Their first full length was produced, arranged, and recorded by members of the band in a collaborative effort, and throughout the process, a collective discernment and a tidy, economical style unique to DMWT has been born.
Contrary to the standard and usual routine, DON'T MESS WITH TEXAS stick to their own saying: you can't beat guitar, bass, drums and piano.
DON'T MESS WITH TEXAS play subtle, smooth, trance-inducing music by applying both art and craft. Their debut album is comprised of six slow-burning and wisely balanced songs which combine moody atmosphere with a hint of urgency. Like a slow and meditative long-haul trek, listening to their debut full length is fulfilling and rewarding. It is rare to hear such a young band like DON'T MESS WITH TEXAS which manages its sound and songs in such a economical manner. Actually, it is rare to hear such a band like DON'T MESS WITH TEXAS in the first place.
