ANNIHILATOR
Bio:
Canada’s ANNIHILATOR is the lifework of guitarist Jeff Waters. Founded in 1984, the band took the metal scene by storm with their debut 1989 release “Alice In Hell”, upped the ante with 1990’s “Never, Neverland” and has continued a non-stop career-pattern of releasing records and touring with many of the biggest bands in the metal genre, ever since.
After 18 months of touring for the band’s previous cd “Suicide Society” (nominated for a Canadian Juno), the band has just finished up their 16th studio cd and is getting ready to tour Canada, play some of the finest European metal festivals this summer and gearing up for what will be one of the metal fan’s biggest highlights of 2017: Testament, Annihilator and Death Angel, touring together in Europe this fall.
The band’s founder, Jeff Waters (and guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, producer, engineer, mix engineer, mastering engineer, manager…etc.) was asked how it feels to be “back” touring with the mighty Testament:
“Back in 1989, Testament was planning their North American tour for their classic record “Practice What You Preach”. We were very lucky to be chosen as their support act for the tour then and had some of the best touring and metal shredding moments with that band. When they recently asked us to come with them on their fall 2017 tour in Europe, it took me about 2 seconds to say yes. Add Death Angel to this bill and you have one of the best thrash bills of the year.”
Annihilator has given the metal world a sound that is one of the clearest, most-tasteful mixtures of huge, metal riffs with the idea of the perfect song and some legendary solo shredding as the icing on the cake. Jeff and ANNIHILATOR have been a major influence on countless well-known metal acts and musicians around the world. In fact, countless and successful non-metal acts & musicians cite Waters and Co. as an influence in their careers.
