Avulsed Formed in Madrid in 1991, Avulsed have become one of the most enduring and influential forces in European death metal. Led by the unmistakable growls of founder and frontman Dave Rotten, the band has spent more than three decades carving its name into the underground with a relentless blend of brutality, groove, and gore-soaked imagery. Drawing inspiration from classic death metal while maintaining a distinct identity, Avulsed have earned a devoted international following through acclaimed releases such as Eminence in Putrescence, Stabwound Orgasm, and Ritual Zombi.
In 2025, Avulsed returned stronger than ever with Phoenix Cryptobiosis, their eighth full-length studio album and the first since 2013’s Ritual Zombi. Marking a new era for the band, the album showcases a revitalized lineup featuring Dave Rotten alongside guitarists Alejandro Lobo and Victor Dws, bassist Alex Nihil, and drummer Santiago “GoG” Arroyo. The record has been widely praised for combining the band’s trademark savage intensity with renewed energy, razor-sharp musicianship, and a powerful production.
More than thirty years after their formation, Avulsed remain standard-bearers for Spanish death metal, continuing to deliver uncompromising extremity while proving that true underground legends never lose their edge.
